You do mean Levothyroxine.....not liothyronine?

You would need a private prescription

Yes Levothyroxine Slow Dragon. I would like to try their brand as a few people online have said it helped them. I am chronically ill on Wockhardt, it used to work OK nearly 3 years ago, (not sure if ingredients have changed). My body just keeps shutting down and I feel like I am dying. I do take Liothyronine as well got it 2 1/2 years ago, but only a small dose. I tried higher (my body needs higher) but it makes my eyes blood red and my veins swell. I thought I would see if a different brand would help, if not I'm going to try Armour but it's so expensive.

Thank you.

Perhaps you need dose increase

How much levothyroxine are you currently taking?

Do you have recent thyroid and vitamin test results and ranges you can add

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

If/when also on T3, make sure to take last 1/2 or 1/3rd of daily dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test

Is this how you do your tests?

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies

For thyroid including antibodies and vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

If you can get GP to test vitamins and antibodies then cheapest option for just TSH, FT4 and FT3 £29 (via NHS private service )

Thank you Slow Dragon for taking the time to send me all the info.

I have tried raising T4 but my heart races and head feels as if its going to explode. I am at a loss to know what to do, I have tried everything, read all the info on how to help thyroid problems, changed anything that needed changing. Added anything that needed adding. I am now wondering if Wockhardt has changed ingredients because their T4 does not stay in my system for very long. I am going to try splitting the dose morning and night, because it seems to be more night time now when my body starts to shut down. It is actually terrifying when I am here on my own when it happens, my youngest daughter is so helpful when here, but she is at Uni.

We are so lucky to have you, Helvella and other people on here with giving all the helpful advice.

I will ask for vitamins and antibodies via GP NHS private service. I never realised they would do this. Thanks again.

Several years ago, I used ordinary NHS prescriptions to purchase L-Thyroxin Henning from a different source (one which no longer exists in anything like the form it used to).

I had no problem.

It is important that the prescription is for an appropriate number of tablets. In the UK we usually see 28 and 56 but in Germany they are most often 100.

I suggest you contact the pharmacy to check.

Thank you Helvella. I have emailed them since I posted this. They say they will accept an NHS prescription, so fingers crossed.

Hello Razzydaz, How did you get on with ordering your L Thyroxin Henning from Germany? I need to do the same as it is the only one I can tolerate, I was getting it when I lived in france. Now in the UK and they are giving me different makes, they all give me a headache. So very interested to know how to go about this, thanks in advance.

Hi sorry River frog I've only just read this message. I've been battling with chronic conditions because nothing is working for me 😞. I'm not sure if you managed to get help elsewhere, I hope you did. I did get a supply of Thybon Henning L-Thyroxin very easily with a prescription from my Dr's through Parcelmed, not sure now after BREXIT if it is still as easy to get? Sadly to say they did not work for me, they are too strong for my broken body.
