Does anyone know of papers/ trials/ research which show that TSH is often suppressed when you take T3? I think this may be a problem at my next endo appointment, as my TSH is often around 0.005 ! My T3 and T4 levels are fairly high but have never been over range.
January 2020 Medichecks (similar to tests in 2019)
T3 6.35 (3.1-6.8)
T4 21.0 (12-22)
TSH 0.006 (0.27-4.2)
I currently take 100 Levo with 31.25 T3, and don't feel brilliant if I take less than that.
I was originally Graves, but went hypo after RAI in 1990.

I’m interested in the answer to this also. Scientific and peer reviewed papers would be great but I’ll take even preliminary studies.
My TSH is .006 also and my T3 is at 45% of the range and T4 at 38%. I take NDT and Levo. When T3 and T4 are all the way at the top of the range it’s sometimes lower, like .004 but usually is the same. When T3 and T4 are at the absolute bottom of the range it is .01. One time it dipped quite a bit below the range (both T3 and T4) and my TSH jumped to .5.
My TSH shoots down to the .003-.009 range even if I take as low as 1/4 grain. I do not have Hashimotos.
It depends on the dose of liothyronine. I also believe that many patients who need liothyronine do so because their TSH secretion is subnormal ibshypo.com/index.php/subno... . In these patients TSH becomes low prematurely, leading to impaired T4 to T3 conversion.
Good luck with your endo. I too am on T3 and have TSH so low my GP is very concerned but my endo just calmly advised "continue on the same dose until I see you" saying that if I wanted to I could take smaller doses more frequently. I did try but couldn't get in enough doses and started to suffer. Since my appointment was not for another 9 months both my GP and I relaxed - since the endo clearly is unconcerned.
So, that long-winded reply, is really to say, I hope you find your endo is as supportive as mine. Perhaps you could try smaller doses more frequently?
Tell your doctor that you have some symptoms of hypothyroidism an no of hyperthyroidism. Name symptoms. You have to know them. Check by internet when to take medicine before tests. There are some experience . To have normal results.
