Ayurvedic book on Hashis

Hey all,

Just in the middle of reading this book: Healing the Thyroid with Ayurveda: Natural Treatments for Hashimoto’s, Hypothyroidism, and Hyperthyroidism by Dr M. Teitelbaum, I borrowed it from my library.

Very interesting stuff, gives good ideas on what to eat, drink, when, with what etc. I also found from this book that there are transdermal versions of vit D (so we don't overload liver with another supplement), not sure how effective these are though, haven't tried yet, but would like to. Also, it talks about turmeric tablets and that in high doses they overheat liver (which can aggravate Hashis) and so on. Well, I wanted to share, it might help someone :)

I went to India some 18 years ago to an Ayeurvedic Clinic - when my health was a mystery. Many good things about the treatment but no mention of my thyroid - which was undiagnosed at that time. A good teaspoon of Turmeric powder in water first thing in the morning was part of my prescription ... ☆

The book sounds interesting - thanks for posting.

Wow, that's great you went there Marz, I've never been.

I see, strange they didn't pick it up at all!

Turmeric in water - excellent! I actually stopped turmeric pills and I'm putting a pinch turmeric into goats milk now and sip slowly. Apparently taking a big dose of tumeric in one go overheard liver, which could aggravate Hashis. I'm new to it, so not sure why that is, need to read more!

I’m going to look up the book. Having read your reply about dairy to another post, it’s very interesting. I’ve reintroduced dairy to my diet since Christmas & now have a mucus coating on my tongue. It’s hard enough being GF, so was hoping to just ‘reduce’ not eliminate dairy.

This book might help a little. I'm planning to only have a little of goats milk and ghee, otherwise I think I want to eliminate it again ....fingers crossed for us
