Have been gradually reducing since starting t4 in March 17. I don't know if it was medication or gluten free or both but I'm prettyy happy right now!
I'm also about 9lb down since starting t3 too!
I know my tsh is a little low but it was 0.055 before t3 and my endo was happy with that so I hope he won't freak out this time either.
My t4 is also a little high was 22.1 before t3 and again endo was happy with that.
My periods have gone from 3 weeks long to 1.
Considering it's made such a difference. I'm tempted to reduce t4 and increase t3. Just to see if I can get myself 100%. But I don't want to mess up everything I've done so far.
Endo is unable to prescribe t3 but supports me buying it. He said he's able to request specific funding for NDT if we want but not T3.
It would be nice to know I won't struggle to get my meds if where I buy t3 from don't have any or stop supplying. But again I don't want to change too much now.
I spoke to my gp surgery the other day though and they said if I can get my endo to write a letter saying he supports it (which he's already done before I'd even tried it) then they will look in to doing a private script for me.
My endo said he can't because he doesn't do private work but his colleagues do and could.
Thanks so everyone on here I have taken on all your advice and still wouldn't be functioning if it wasn't for you.

Great to hear a good news story and that your Endo and Doctor are supportive the way they all should be I'd say don't change a thing if everything looks good as it is now stick with it. Well done
I wanted to add my congratulations on your improving health - amazing and inspiring for me and, I'm sure, others too. Do you think going gluten free has been an important part of your journey to recovery? Looking at your FT4 and FT3 and seeing that you are moving in the right direction, I wouldn't be thinking of any increases in medication, but I am a newbie here.
I have to be honest I've no idea. They have been gradually reducing since starting meds even before gluten free.
But now when I eat gluten I get stomach ache, bloating and really tired for a few days after.
I don't know if it's just because Im not used to it any more.
But only after stopping eating it did I realise how bloated and gassy I was before (sorry TMI). It had just become normal for me so I didn't notice. I definitely wouldn't go back now.
My other half isn't hypo but has naturally been eating less gluten as I only cook gf now and says he feels better too.
But then my dad is hypo. Went gluten free for a few months and didn't notice any difference even when he reintroduced.
I think every one is different and it's definitely worth trying. At first though I did only notice when I ate gluten for the first time in 6 weeks and got bloating and a migraine.
Convinced myself (hoped because I missed it) that it was a coincidence but then same happened second time. I haven't had a migraine since even when I've accidentally eaten it but have had bloating every time.
Salphy, thanks very much for sharing your good news story. I am not a great converter of T4 to T3 and am trying lots of things to try to improve that, but haven't gone gluten free yet as I don't think I have any problem with it. I know I could be wrong about that!. I'm also considering adding T3. Would you please PM me to let me know where you source yours? Many thanks.
I didn't think I had a problem with it either until I tried it. I think it's definitely worth trying then you can say 100% if you do or not.
It's actually not that hard any more once you get used to what you can and can't have and find gf alternatives you like. It's really only gf bread I can really tell the difference with but I've found a couple I like now. Even eating out now there's usually gluten free options
Thank you Salphy, I've been gradually cutting down the amount of gluten I eat with a view to going gf, and I agree that it's not as hard as you might think. Really appreciate your quick responses, and again, I'm glad that you're making such good progress yourself. Onwards and upwards!
that's amazing!! So glad you are feeling better! Would you mind messaging me with where you get your t 3 from please? And do you have a prescription? Thank you so much!!
