Do you experience patchy spot and aging skin on face with hypothyroidism though under medication with 100mg levo daily?
Patchy Spot on Face: Do you experience patchy... - Thyroid UK
Patchy Spot on Face
Yes, my forehead is very dry but not flaky.
Patchy meaning dry or patchy meaning pigment change?
both in my case
I do get areas of very dry skin as well as patches of pigment changes (mostly hyperpigmentation but I do have a few light spots). I’ve never attributed these to hypothyroidism but to either hormonal changes or autoimmunity (I have autoimmune conditions as well).
I try to use a hydrating moisturizer and I stay out of the sun. I’ve had some of my hyperpigmentation removed via face peels.
Thanks for your reply, Have you done face peel yourself or with dermatologist?
No not myself. I had it done by a licensed Aesthetician. I’m in the US.
Please could you tell me how much you spent on Peel by licensed Aesthetician and how safe this procedure?
Oh gosh - I’m not sure how much. It wasn’t too bad. I believe they were running a face peel special at the time. Maybe, $200?
As far as safety goes, it depends upon the experience of the person doing the peel. I believe I had a TCA peel. I’m not sure of the % concentration.
I have very fair, very sensitive skin, which makes my hyperpigmentation stand out. I know the first peel (I had two about 6 months apart) made my face very red and irritated. After the solution is applied and they neutralize it, you leave the solution on for awhile afterwards and I misunderstood so instead of washing it off that night, I left it on ALL night which was too much for me. So, it went deeper than they would have liked.
I must say, while I looked horrible for about a week, my skin did look amazing afterwards. It got rid of a lot of the pigmentation. I was smarter for my second peel, which went better as I washed it off that night.
I’m not going to lie - your skin looks (and feels) like you’ve been sunburnt and facing the world that way is difficult. I used pure Aloe Vera gel to get me through as well as a product by Alocane called Burn Relief Gel. It contains lidocaine and has a cooling effect.
if you are considering this, go for a a consult, ask lots of questions and only go to a licensed professional.
Thanks for your detail info.
I am going to a consult next week. They have amazing reviews and run by Dermatologist Doctor.
In your experience, Is there any interference of that treatment with hypo skin in relation to effectiveness?
