Is anyone doing well on Nature Throid or Levo / Nature Throid Combo

Hi folks

I was just wondering if anyone is doing well on Nature Throid alone at the moment ?

or on a Levo/Nature Throid combination ?

I’m sticking with it but not feeling very good at the moment so I thought I’d see how everyone else is doing ?

Thankyou for any feedback or advice

I am doing alright I was so bad on Levothyroxine I see u r struggling for a long time I hope u remember me how we both were struggling on Levothyroxine. I started NP and was doing ok but my rt3 is a bit high .i went on different brand ndt WP and all my symptoms came back so you have to see which one suits you . I went back on NP again. I went on WP cause thought it’s cheaper but it didn’t help me .my labs are optimal now tsh 0.03 t4 16.8 and t3 5.8 .

Where to start?

With many it’s that they are not taking enough levo as c most dr’s treat by the tsh

You need your b12, folate, vitamin d and ferritin you’re all be at optimum levels but not standard nhs levels!

Ideally to reduce thyroid antibodies you will be gluten dairy and soy free.

Eat mostly plant based ?

Dr Isabella Wentz is the leading expert when it comes to thyroid health, her books and her documentary series are brilliant.

Thanks Chippysue

You’re right I’ve always been on a low dose of thyroxine it never really suited me enough to get to a good level I’m still only taking 75mg Levo and a grain of NDT but I’m getting there that’s the main thing just got awful stomach issues to deal with but when my stomach is healed I’m sure I will be ok I do respond quickly and I think I’m a very sensitive one to medication!

Great advice I’ve been gluten free for 3 years now and I have got Isabella Wentz books I was wondering whether to try the probiotics that she recommends to help heal my gastritis and hernia along with a change in my diet too ?

Like you say it’s all about getting your vitamins and minerals at decent levels a good diet and nurturing yourself .

Take care wishing you good health

Hi Ari3

Thankyou for responding I remember you yes , we were both going down the naturopathic root and you gave me some great advice 😀

I went on nature throid alone and became very poorly it made me realise that I have to have an good T4 level so I’m still taking a small amount of Levo and trying to keep topping up with Nature Throid until I’m on a high enough level to stop the Levo altogether!

It’s all trial and error isn’t it , I’m glad to hear you are doing much better results look much better

Keep yourself well take care

Hello, I was very poorly on levothyroxine and couldn’t tolerate it at all. I’m now on nature thyroid alone, I take 4grams daily. I wouldn’t be overstating things to say it feels like a miracle; I am almost back to my usual self.

I do agree that a gluten free very low sugar diet helps too.

Hi , I hope you don't mind my asking , but , I wonder what your symptoms were when you say you were very poorly on thyroxine , I have been on it since having a total thyroidectomy 6 years ago , I felt like my old self for the first 6wks of taking levo butthen it all went downhill and I have struggled ever since , I have been really bad with depression , anxiety overwhelming tiredness, dry skin/hair, constipation and every day life in general, although my levels when I get tested are always in the so called ranges of normal (whatever they may be ) I am so tired of fighting to get someone to listen when I go to my GP /endo , according to them I just need anti depressants , although I have given in before and tried numerous different anti depressants , but have not had any success

My Sympathy for you . I too did very well on the T4 only for a few weeks after my TT. I started to get palpitations insomnia, high BP , fatigue ,sweating ,anxiety/panic attacks, lack of energy/ motivation. This went on for many years. I read a lot about our thyroid journey and joined great forums like this one. It really enlightened me and I got involved and empowered me to seek a Dr that will *Listen* *Care* and thinks *Out Of The Box*. It took a few trials . Journal your symptoms with any thyroid med changes. Ask for copies of your lab results and write the dose you are on at the time of the labs . Learn the lab results your FT4 FT3 TSH and the symptoms you experience with the lab results.

Little tweaking's like splitting your T4 dose or trying to dose before sleep can make huge improvements for you . You would be surprised. Also lowering your T4 dose and adding a low dose T3 or NDT (made from porcine) can help too with your Dr's help .

Nutrients are *Extremely*important to help our thyroid meds work better for us . Vitamin "D" helps with T4 to T3 conversions K/2 , B-Complex, B-12/folate , magnesium , Iron if you test low , vitamin "C" , Celtic Sea Salt for adrenals/electrolytes.

I know it might sound a bit over whelming but it gets easier as you do it . You have to be your own best advocate to get you to feel your *Optimal*.

Best Wishes .

Thanks so much for your information ,I had started splitting my T4 dose a few months ago and actually did feel it was making a difference , I didn't feel so tired later in the day .I used to fall asleep the minute I sat down in front of the telly .For me the biggest thing is depression along with being just so irratable ,I have tried anti depressants a good few times ,but they just dont seem to have any affect last Thyroxine prescription was Teva brand and I had taken it for about a week before reading on here of all the people who were having side affects with it ,I had really bad palpatations and bowel problems , which have settled since changing to another brand , the racing heartbeat and the palpatations are still ongoing ,could be as I was taking too much T3? have took note of all your advice and will note down what meds I am on when I get my blood results .

Your most welcome . Palpitations can come from dosing with more T3 than you need. Try to lower it a bit and see if it helps you with the palpitations .

Thank you so much for all your good advice ,I have only been taking 5 mcgs daily split into two doses since I first asked for advice on the forum , things have settled down a bit now , but still getting some palpatations but not so bad, could also have been the Teva that I was given ,but have stopped taking it now and have another brand , also feel like breathing is a bit of an effort ,hopefully things will settle down soon , thanks again for your input , appreciate it :-)

You might want to split your T4 too . I find that splitting my T4 2x/day AM and in the after noon works much better for me . For me dosing with my full dose T4 in one gulp did not work well for me. Little tweaks like that can make huge difference .
