Ice water running in my veins...

What can cause this sensation, which I have had on and off for 3 months?

I am a breast cancer survivor, just diagnosed with metastatic cancer in my brain. But there are a lot of health issues in in my family, and a lot of thyroid issues.

Could this be extreme stress, burnout, another type of cancer, or a thyroid issue?

I am scared silly and see an oncologist in two days.

Pam

I am sorry to hear of your health issues.

I see you joined our forum today.

Did you mean to post your question on the thyroid forum, we are happy to help with anything thyroid related but I think your question might be better dealt with on a forum more specific to your needs.

I specifically am asking if this ice water feeling could be thyroid-related because of the many thyroid issues among my maternal aunts.

It's not something I have heard of or personally experienced as a symptom of hypothyroidism. Generally feeling colder than others, and cold extremities, are common symptoms. You can check the list of signs/symptons on ThyroidUK's main website here:

thyroiduk.org/tuk/about_the...

Do you have any of those?

Have you had any thyroid function tests?

Double vision, tinnitus and sensation of a lump in my throat. I am 5'4" and weigh 117 pounds. I am wondering if I should ask for tests. I am also very tired and have been experiencing palpitations.

Fatigue is often a trigger for testing Thyroid so it's not unreasonable to suggest it if our GP doesn't mention it.

The NHS often only tests TSH and if that is in range the no further tests. However that's not enough for a full picture, it's best to test

TSH

FT4

FT3

Thyroid antibodies

And because low nutrient levels often have symptoms that can mimic hypothyroidism it's also very useful to test

Vit D

B12

Folate

Ferritin

If your GP can't or won't do them all then we have recommended private labs which do home fingerprick tests (or venous blood draw at extra cost) which we can give you details of.

Hi

Absolutely, thats how I felt until my underactive thyroid was treated with medication.

Once your on the right dosage it should disappear.

Best wishes
