Posted on here before regarding some test results and since have had some more tests done when I went to the doctors, had the usual tests done what I had before which was TFT b12 and folate etc
TSH 5.24 (0.27-4.2)
FT4 12.4 (12-22)
folate was low I cant remember the reference ranges this the references are 4.5-45.3? my result came back as 2.45
the doctor prescribed me 56 tablets of 5mg folic acid and another blood test in 4 months which will be in april as I had it done in December
I thought the folic acid would help with my previous tiredness seeing as I saw my folate result but the tiredness and other symptoms continue, was hoping someone could give me any opinions?
thanks is in advance

Thanks for replying, not I'm not any levothyroxine just the folic acid which the doctor prescribed me after my blood test, I always ask for results and it said on the paper the receptionist gave me that its abnormal but nothing ever went any further, they just want a repeat blood test and I'm gunna bring it up when i next go because it's getting beyond a joke now with my tiredness
Your TSH is too high and should be 1 or lower and your T4 should be in the upper third of the range. I just looked at your previous posts and you definitely need treating with Levothyroxine because you are hypothyroid.
Thanks for replying, I'll be bringing this up with my doctor when I see him next then, it's frustrating me because this is the 2nd time I've taken a trip to the doctors about just being tired in general the other things I can live with, I'm with a new doctor now and he seems good compared to my last one so hopefully he'll listen
If he doesn't help you may have to self medicate, that is what I had to do a couple of years ago. I sat infront of my GP with my hair dropping out, my nails lifting off their beds, blurred vision and virtually bedridden and he refused to give me Levothyroxine. I had taken Levothyroxine in the past when I was going through a hypo phase and he still refused because my TSH was within range. Feeling desperate I asked for help on another forum and a kind lady directed me to her supplier of Thyroid S from Thailand. What else could I do when I felt like I was dying .... I know that sounds over the top but I was suicidal and felt dreadful. Sometimes we have to help ourselves if Doctors and the NHS refuse to help.
Jordy, if you go on TUK website there is a symptoms list which you can print off, fill in and take with you to GP. I often refer back to it to remind me how far I have come since being diagnosed in 2007.
The first GP treated me for high cholesterol, a classic symptom of hypo. I went back because I thought the statins were going to kill me. The GP I then saw was one of the senior partners, he listened and also took into account family history, lots of hypos, and prescribed levo. It took about 6 months to feel more normal! Hope the new GP sees sense. It is really hard work sometimes to get well and not easy when you have hypo symptoms such as brain fog.
I did this and my GP actually refused to read it and brushed them aside. I just hope her Doctor actually listens and looks at the list because mine didn't.
