Help please

I have had recent blood tests with the GP and it shows my thyroid function as normal. However, in the last 24 hours my skin is extremely itchy and my eyes sore and itchy. I have been ill with a sickness bug and flu like symptoms - I’m worried that the GP isn’t testing for the right things?!

What doctors describe as "normal" constitutes a huge range, and includes figures that would be "not normal" in other countries. Do you have the actual figure?

What you really need are results for TSH, free 3 and free T4 (plus ranges) and ideally folate, ferritin, vit D and B12 to assess your thyroid function - just doing TSH (as is often the case) isn't enough. But if you're not sure it's thyroid, full blood count etc are probably also worthwhile.

You will see lots of posts on this forum about private blood testing if your GP won't oblige. Good luck

My results at diagnosis ...

TSH 0.03 (0.30-4.20)

FREE THYROXINE 38.0 (9.0-19.0)

FREE T3 13.1 (2.6-5.7)

You need your recent results because you might need to reduce the medication. My Endocrinologist overdosed me on PTU and my TSH was 9 and I felt like the walking dead. You should have regular blood tests when you are being treated to monitor your liver and blood count.

What where you diagnosed with? Do you have any antibody test results, because that looks like Hashi's.

Hey there again,

We need the results of a current full thyroid blood panel including ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D. if you wish for considered opinion.

Working off a three year old blood test result isn't where you are now though it does show you then with an over range T3 and T4 and with a suppressed TSH.

If your doctor will not help you, there are private companies, as detailed on Thyroid uk website that will process your bloods, and even come to your home to draw the blood.

P.S. Do you have the results of the current blood test undertaken so we can see what the doctor tested to say that your thyroid was normal.

Not what you're looking for?
