Hello

I have been feeling sluggish and my periods are irregular, a good few symptoms. Under active runs in my family. Just had my results from a finger prick test, can you let me know your thoughts?

My tHS is 1.63

My FT4 is 14.9

In 2015, my tHS was 1.6 and ft4 was 11.8

In 2018 my tHS was over 2 and ft4 11.5

Everyone keeps telling me I have no issues with my thyroid.

Can I ask opinions?

Oh my vitamin D is low at 41

THANKS so much xx

Was this Medichecks or Blue Horizon?

Did you have the full thyroid/vitamin panel?

Can you post reference ranges so that we can interpret the results (ranges vary from lab to lab) and if you had other tests included please also post those results with ranges.

Yes it was with Thriva :) I only got the thyroid tested and vitamin D. These are the only ranges I have.

Not much to go on, is it! Apologies.

OK, from the Thriva dashboard that some people have posted previously, there is a reference range, it is the green bar on the graphic included, it may have a light green area and a dark green area. Each end of the complete (light and dark) green area will have a number - low limit of range and top limit of range. Can you please post these, include the whole of the green area, not just the light or dark green areas.

Vit D will have a unit of measurement, it may be nmol/L.

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies

Autoimmune disease often runs in families so very important to test thyroid antibodies

You may need to get full Thyroid testing privately as NHS refuses to test TG antibodies if TPO antibodies are negative

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Is this how you do your tests?

Ask GP to test vitamin levels

Vitamin D at 41nmol is low enough to require GP to prescribe

Local CCG guidelines

clinox.info/clinical-suppor...

Government recommends everyone supplement October to April

gov.uk/government/news/phe-...

Ask GP to test B12, folate and ferritin too

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies

For thyroid including antibodies and vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

If you can get GP to test vitamins and antibodies then cheapest option for just TSH, FT4 and FT3 £29 (via NHS private service )
