My daughter had a blood test which has come back as normal so just wondering if the adult and children ranges are the same?

Why not ask the receptionist for a print out of the results, the ranges will be on there, then come and tell us :) . It would help other members to know if they are the same :)

Thanks Susie I have them already, they are TSH 5.10 (0.64-6.27) and T4 16 (10-25). My daughter is 4 years old if that is relevant.

Presumably they were done at the same surgery as yours, have you got a print out of your own thyroid results from when you had your thyroid last tested so that you can compare the ranges?

Her TSH certainly is high in range.

There are special paediatric ranges.

This link is to Thyroid Function Tests at just one lab and shows adult and paediatric ranges:

A few issues. Do NOT take the ranges in this example as applying to your and your daughter. Such ranges are specific to a lab.

There is suspicion that paediatric ranges are sometimes not particularly well investigated and should be taken with some scepticism.

All too often, we see adult ranges applied blindly.

My advice would be to contact the lab.

Yes they are. However for prepubertal children, the FT3 reference range is about 10-15% higher than for adults.
