Stress cortisol test results any opinions gratefully welcomed

Good morning I decided to do some stress cortisol tests with medichecks and again they were super quick from start to finish.apparently they are all normal but I’d love to hear your opinions please just to put my mind in a good place.

Cortisol waking 7.46 nmol/L range 6-21

Cortisol 12 o’clock 2.47 nmol/L range 1.5-7.6

Cortisol 16.00 <1.5 nmol/L range 0-5.5

Cortisol before bed <1.5 nmol/L range 0-2

Optimal levels for cortisol, according to rt3-adrenals.org/cortisol_t... are:

• Morning at the top of the range - yours is 9.73% through range

• Noon approximately 75% of the range - yours is 15.9%

• Evening close to 50% of the range - yours result doesn't actually have a value

• Nighttime at the bottom of the range - yours result doesn't actually have a value

As you can see, your first two results are far from optimal.

As for your Evening and Nighttime results, they are useless. They start their range at zero, ranges are supposed to be based on healthy people, if anyone did actually have a cortisol level of zero I have serious doubts as to whether they are healthy. Also, they don't give an actual result, just saying <1.5 doesn't tell you anything. Considering that there is a point within the range where it's optimal, if you take the nighttime result for example, <1.5 means anything from zero to 1.4. If it was 1.4 it would be 70% through range and far too high considering that optimal for the nightime result is near the very bottom of the range.

So unfortunately this test isn't much help. And it doesn't test DHEA which is important to be tested at the same time as cortisol as it helps with determining stages of adrenal fatigue if present.

Best adrenal tests are done by Regenerus and Genova Diagnostics, they have proper ranges and they test both cortisol and DHEA.

Hi SeasideSusie thanks so much for your explanation I knew I’d be better to trust your opinion than just accept medichecks “normal “quote.I don’t feel Normal.

I’ve got the test pack coming from medichecks for the MMA test and iron test that they recommended,I’ll arrange a venous appointment again with Superdrug nurse,it’s a three week wait for gp appointment then god knows how long for nurse appointment then I’d have to wait on labs that’s “if” I even got them to agree to do those tests in the first place and to be honest I don’t trust the results/ ranges since joining here and reading and learning so much, not retaining a lot lol but I plod away.

I’ve bought In the supplements that were recommended here and I’m now thinking maybe I need some help because I’m really struggling on my own,the head injury I had caused me short term memory loss and with the way I’m feeling I sometimes think I need spoon fed so to speak I’m thinking of trying a functional doctor now I’m at rock bottom and isolating myself more and more now I’ve just cancelled yet another holiday and lost all our money so I need a rocket up my booty to get on top of this, does anyone have any experience of a very patient functional doctor I could try.I remember reading about a German doctor, in Ipswich I think, anyone tried him??

I don't know about functional doctors, I think they can be hit and miss. You could put up a new post as no-one will see your request in this thread. Posts asking for recommendations of doctors have to have replies turned off as we can't discuss individual doctors on the forum without their permission, only in private messages. However, the post stays visible for members to see and they will respond by private message if they can help.
