I have started GF this month, so hope to see improvement. I am taking high level supplements, improved (already good) diet etc.
I saw an Endo specialist here in December who put me on NaturThroid 65mg (from 50mg Levo) to improve T3. I was tested this morning so don't have the results of the first 6 weeks yet.
My main concern at the moment is that since taking levo/Naturthroid my menstrual cycles have become much shorter (so I ovulate too early to produce a viable egg). I have a thread about this too. Before thyroid treatment my cycles were perfect!
Dear SlowDragon thank you for this. I just got my results after 6 weeks on NaturThroid (65mg) and it's:
TSH 0.48
T4 15.5
Free T3 6.6
TPO less than 15.
These look great to me? And the GP said the thyroid ultrasound is normal with nothing t worry about (the nodules are common)? I still feel horrendously fatigued but hope these results show I am on the right meds and going in the right direction!
Essential to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Have you had these tested?
Just testing TPO antibodies isn't full testing....but NHS refuses to test TG antibodies if TPO antibodies are negative. It's more common to have high TPO antibodies or high Tpo and high TG antibodies.....but it's not rare to have only high TG antibodies
But you would need to test privately
Lots of small nodules or thyroid looking granulated is Hashimoto's
Thank you. The ranges are as per this graphic here (can’t seem to attach) and my results now fall into “optimal”. My TSH is much lower now with the NaturThroid and my T3 has finally moved up into optimal too (Levo moved the TSH to 1.5 ish but did nothing for T3.)
Sorry, can’t paste link, the ranges are:
TSH: (0.3-4.2)
T4: (12-22)
T3: (3-7)
TPO: <35
So if it’s Hashimoto’s, what next? Simply remain on this dose of NaturThroid, stay GF and that’s it? I can’t quite get my head around it yet!
