I am going to see my GP later today. This is no fun now. My ankles resemble Norra Batties stockings and my tummy looks like i am 9 months pregnant. My appointment with Endo is not until the end of January. Quick question about above results which readings prove Hashimoto ?. I can not believe they can with hold meds knowing they already diagnosed me in 2013. I am frightened i loose my job because my whole body hurt last night and in 2013 i could hardly walk for months. I was going to ask for water tablets as i feel i am holding fluid. would i be right if i am hypo with no meds? To top it all i have also had kidney pain but i do think that could be a stone as i have had them before, Soooooooooo fed up....

The above are the Hashi's antibodies. They are both negative. What was your diagnosis in 2013? Were you diagnosed with Hashi's?

I take it you're not on any thyroid hormone replacement at the moment? Have you ever been? If so, why was it stopped? Your TSH is well above range, so you should be back on them by now.

I was diagnosed hypo in 2013 and took levothyroxine until the beginning of this year. They took me off for a trial and then when i became symptomatic again told me to re start. I had a reaction to it and they told me to stop again. I now have to wait for the endo as they say i will need other type of treatment and only the endo will be able to give it. I know i need to take a replacement they just wont let me take it. I am going to huff and puff later at the doctors. I am going to be taking this further soon it is now unacceptable. I wondered about the hashi as someone had mentioned it but i was always under the impression i was just hypo. x

When you restarted Levo, was the brand different from the one you were on before? Sometimes we can react to a different brand, the excipients are all different. Teva brand is one that many people react badly too, but some people do react to other brands.

No, Hashi's is not indicated. Your thyroid antibodies would need to be over range to suggest Hashi's, yours are below range. However, one low result doesn't discount Hashi's as antibodies fluctuate, and it is possible to have Hashi's without raised antibodies.

Your over range TSH and very low in range FT4 say you are hypothyroid.

I was going to ask for water tablets as i feel i am holding fluid.

If you do get prescribed water tablets, ensure your electrolytes are tested regularly (preferably get a baseline before starting) because diuretics can cause electrolyte imbalance.

What was your original diagnosis back in 2013, and why has treatment been withheld/stopped?

I just read the other day (but cannot for the life of me remember where) that FT3 levels are the last ones to drop, that FT4 levels drop first and that in turn causes the TSH to rise...your FT4 is proportionally lower than your FT3 which seems to be what normally happens in hypothyroidism.
