Totally normal to feel awful, most people do after a fit, and you have the added worry of not knowing what caused it yet. You have all my sympathy and get well vibes coming your way x

Sending you get well wishes. How scary and hospitals just suck no matter the reason you are in there. It is an alien place to be. Hope you find out what is going on sooner rather than later. Good luck!

That sounds an upsetting experience. Hope you get answers and improvement very soon.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions either. They may not know all the answers yet but you need to know for your own peace of mind.

Ask them to make sure they test your thyroid TPO antibodies to rule out Hashimotos Encelopathy or SREAT. Best wishes

Hope you feel better and get to the bottom of what caused it.

In the meantime, if your friend was shouting during your fit, I'd guide him/her towards a first aid course - keeping the environment calm and quiet was pretty much the first thing I was taught to do when it comes to fits - including getting any children, anybody who cannot keep quiet/calm, any pets that might get upset etc out of the room, removing or turning off any electrical devices that might make noise (phones ringing, timers beeping etc), and speaking to the patient in my calmest, softest voice (the one I normally reserve for dogs when I need to keep them calm).

I've just completed a first aid course, and they said everything is covered under the British Red Cross app, which is free to download.

With fits, I know it seems counterintuitive, but people simply need to not touch you until it's over. They should put a jumper or something cushioning between your head and anything you might hit it off of, and then recovery position when it's over. I really do hope this was a one off.

Yes, prevent injury from knocking against anything nearby, or from falling down stairs (I've known this happen). But otherwise, let things run their course without anything in environment making it worse. I was told that if a fit doesn't stop within 2 minutes to phone for advice/help, but whether that time limit has changed since I do not know.

Yes, that's still what the book says: call if it's the first one, if it lasts more than 5 mins, if the person remains unresponsive for more than 10 mins after.

Excuse a stupid question from a Yank, but what is a jumper? I have a feeling it is not the same as in the U.S.

"A jumper or jumper dress (in American English), pinafore dress or informally pinafore (British English) is a sleeveless, collarless dress intended to be worn over a blouse, shirt, T-shirt or sweater."

that s what we call a Woolly Sweater.

i only realised that it means something different in the States, when one of the Williams sisters was talking about playing tennis in a jumper, and i thought, what's she going on about?

Thank you. I don't think I would want to play tennis in a woolly sweater. Or even an acrylic sweater.
