Most recent results. Struggling with continuing symptoms - fatigue, brain fog, pins and needles, cold intolerance. Recently tachycardia. Diagnosis is post viral fatigue after an illness 3 years ago. Any thoughts/suggestions welcome thanks

Am I correct in thinking there is no result for Ft3?

Yes, obviously wasn’t tested. These are nhs results. I had private bloods done in June but they tested total t3 and not ft3 -Total T3 1.5. - range 1.3-3.1 which they said was low and to monitor

I can't believe that they did all those tests and missed out an important one Ft3. The Ft3 level would guide us to see if there was a problem with the level, conversion etc.

I know. Both sets of results were by endocrinologists both private and nhs. With all the symptoms I have including goitre which was scanned but clear that it is connected to my thyroid but just can’t get to the bottom of it. Thanks for taking the time to reply

The other mad thing as far as I can see without a magnifier is that there's no vit D. The most essential vitamin!

Apparently it’s fine but your correct it’s not shown on the print out. I sometimes think they say they are testing for things then don’t. Might be a bit paranoid 😬 private test results were TSH 1.8 - range 0.27-4.2

Free t4 18.8 - range 12-22

Total T3 1.5. - range 1.3-3.1

How do they know its fine if they didn't test for it?

Very good question which I will definitely be asking

If they say calcium levels are fine then be ready to say that vitamin D might not be. They don't necessarily correlate as your body will rob your bones to maintain a good blood calcium level. Without good vitamin D levels you might risk poor calcium absorption and develop osteoporosis in time.

Your B12 is on the lowish side as the pernicious anaemia society recommend levels higher than 500, or nearer to the upper end of the lab range, to prevent neurological symptoms.

You need enough calcium to utilise vit B12 efficiently, hence the need for sufficient vit D.

Have you had thyroid antibodies tested in any tests

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's) diagnosed by raised Thyroid antibodies

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water

.

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or all vitamins

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

Your B12 is on low side

Come back with new post once you get thyroid antibodies and vitamin D

Plus TSH, FT3 and FT4 tested together

Definately worth pursuing this. I was orginally diagnosed as having CFS/ME by a NHS consultant. However my thyroid hormones were in range but slowly lowering, TSH slowly rising. Eventually diagnosed with hypothyroidism, with all the classic features of it (moon face, constipation, felling cold etc) & was put on treatment. Took a while to sort the best treatment but my CFS/ME disappeared once optimised on thyroid treatment.

I wish you luck and hope you can get sorted.

Stop eating foods with gluten in them, this will alleviate most of your symptoms! Virals, especially EBV Epstein Barr virus feed off foods such as gluten, heavy metals, toxins, dairy, etc...allowing them to continue wreaking havoc on organs, replicating & mutating. After going gluten free, doing a cleanse, and detoxing my liver the head fog was finally gone!! As well as the same exact symptoms you described, pins & needles, cold intolerance, and fatigue. It's true these viruses will eventually become dormant, but you must stop feeding them what they love. Sounds like the viruses are attacking your thyroid and possibly other organs as well.

Complex carbs have a higher glycemic index, which makes the blood thick & sticky. It's difficult for blood, carrying essential nutrients & water,to get to the tiniest vessels and capillaries of the fingers, eyes, toes & ears. So this could cause the pins & needles effect.

I hope you feel better soon!

What liver detox protocol did you use? I'm looking to work on my liver pathways.
