Am I pregnant!! 🤣😱🤔. What on earth does this mean and why is it on my test results?

First test 12/8/19

FT4 16.2 pmol/L

TSH 9.83 mU/L

Second Test 10/10

FT4 25.1 pmol/L

TSH 2.14 mU/L

Why are the trimester readings on there?

I’ve just received my two private tests @SeasideSusie recommended thank you. I’m away 2 days so sending those off Tuesday.

Thanks in advance 😀

Well, you would know if you were pregnant :)

That is just a standard print out that some labs do. It clearly states that those are reference ranges for different stages of pregnancy, it shows what ranges should be used for TSH and FT4 during the 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimester. If you aren't pregnant then they don't apply to you and you just use the range that is in brackets after your results.

Your TSH is 9.83 (0.27=4.20) is well over range and if it was just slightly higher at 10 then you would be diagnosed with primary hypothyroidism. Presumably that was your first abnormal test (12/8/19) and you were tested again in October.

Your results from your second test show a "normal" TSH much lower than your previous one and an over range FT4.

Were both tests done under the same circumstances, i.e no later than 9am, fasted from evening meal/supper the night before, water only before the test, no Biotin or B Complex for 7 days before the test? If so then you need thyroid antibodies testing because there is such a swing in your results that it could suggest autoimmune thyroid disease, aka Hashimoto's. What is included in your private test?

I took your advice and got the Adrenal Saliva Test with DHEA

AND

Thyroid one is testing TSH, FT4, FT3, B12, Ferritin, and all the antibodies but having had RAI treatment - I won’t have antibodies? (Someone said)

No Susie ...first test I knew nothing about fasting and taking supplements etc., but it was 9.02am.

Second one, had stopped supplements after result of first test (through researching myself and reading others’ advice on here) and that was just before 9am

This is why I’ve gone private to get results under the optimal circumstances.

And I’m post menopausal so it would be a miracle! 😉😂

RAI doesn't necessarily remove all antibodies. If you have absolutely no thyroid tissue left then TPO antibodies will subside but other antibodies can still be present.

Not what you're looking for?
