Anybody experiencing jaw pain under the ear. Every afternoon it feels like my right ear begins to fill up and the jaw under is sore and sometimes painful. Doc says this is definitely one of the endless symptoms we endure with hypothyroidism but I was just wondering if anybody here had noticed it.
Thanks and good luck to us all.

Are you on correct dose of replacement thyroid hormones
Are vitamin levels optimal
Teeth grinding and jaw clenching are common hypothyroid symptoms. This can make whole jaw/ear/head ache
A mouth guard at night, made to fit your teeth by dentist can help
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .
Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
If/when also on T3, or NDT make sure to take last dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test
Hi my jaw aches frequently and the lower part of my ear. I thought it was due to my allergies, interesting to know that it can be another symptom of hypothyroidism
I've got jaw problems and hashi/hypo. It was very bad upon diagnosis (TSH over 100) so I correlate the two. It has become chronic. Dentist recommended physical therapy. I wear a night guard, but I don't know how much it helps
I do not have jaw pain. However, 1-2x a week, I get ear pain. It is right inside my ear and can be either the right or the left. My dr sees nothing wrong. I have only had it since I developed Hashimoto's 3 years ago. It hurts more when I turn my head or tilt my head back. I think it is somehow thyroid pressing on a nerve. ?
