Jaw Pain

I have Hashimotos and currently take 75mcg amd 100mcg of Levo on alternate days. I have a blood test Wednesday to check my levels which due to the symptoms I’m experiencing will show I’m now overactive. My question is, I go through bouts of having throat, jaw and ear pain, today has been terrible I literally feel like iv been hit by a bus. Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so have you tried anything that helps alleviate it?

I had jaw pain. The dentist said I had TMJ. I wear a night guard for grinding my teeth. I also think that when my gland becomes inflammed my jaw sometimes does hurt. It helped when I added T3 medication.

Do you find the night guard works?

Yes. If I go more than a couple days without wearing it I can tell for sure.

Have you had vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested yet?

How long have you been on 75mcg/100mcg dose ?

Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after being on constant dose

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

Do you have recent blood test results and ranges to add?

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or all vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

Medichecks currently have an offer on until end of May - 20% off

Jaw grinding is common hypothyroid symptom

A mouth guard can be very effective. (I was extremely sceptical....but it's good)

Costs about £100 from dentist

Thanks Slow Dragon. I think a mouth guard is the way to go. I had some private tests done a few months ago which diagnosed Hashis.
