Hi, I'm coming towards the end of my Better You vit D oral spray.

I was wandering whether to purchase more or maybe try another brand.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Your recent tests showed low vitamin D. How much were you supplementing?

Did you have high thyroid antibodies in past?

Hi, I stopped supplementing vit d during the summer however I started again quite recently as I wasn't too good. I have been taking 2 sprays of 3000 so 6000 a day.

In reply to antibodies , I have had 2 private blood tests with Medichecks 2 years apart, which I have posted on this site. I am trying to source t3😬😬😬 at the moment

Email Dionne at Thyroid Uk for list of recommended thyroid specialist endocrinologists who will prescribe T3

Suggest you consider supplementing vitamin D all through the year. Perhaps at slightly lower dose in summer is

Just to clarify "recommended thyroid specialist endocrinologists who will prescribe T3 ", I had an endo appointment in September and asked my (T3-friendly) consultant about the current policy. They've been told that they are not allowed to initiate T3 (on the NHS) to anyone not already taking it unless they submit a request stating the exceptional circumstances. It then has to be approved - she didn't say by whom. This is across the country (NHS England?). I've heard that they'll offer to monitor patients if they can source their own T3.

It did sound as though their hands were tied.

I've always got on very well with Doctor's Best D3 softgels (suggested in my reply to your previous post), an excellent product at a good price, Dolphin Fitness usually the cheapest.

Are you taking D3's important cofactors also mentioned - Vit K2 and magnesium?

No I haven't been taking vit k2 or magnesium. I take almond butter which is high in magnesium, hoping that will suffice.

I've just looked that up. The amount of magnesium in almond butter is said to be 279mg per 100grams almond butter.

The normal dose of magnesium supplements is 350-450mg.

There is no Vit K2 in almond butter so you should be supplementing with that, the reasons for these important cofactors are explained in my reply to your previous post.

It's trial and error. My vit D levels are fine on the Better You spray. I tried the Garden of Life tablets made from mushroom extract (same dose as the spray) and my levels went down.

Be aware that as thyroid patience’s we can lose essential vitamins quite quickly so supplements are usually for life but once optimal it may be possible to find a lower maintenance dose but Vit D can fall very quickly if we stop.
