Ent appointment

Hello everyone

So I went for my ENT appointment today and he was not interested at all in the raised thyroid antibodies due to my THS levels being normal and my T4 in T3 also normal.

Also have polycystic ovaries raised ice levels and now these thyroid antibodies also brain lesions joint corrosion and temperatures wings fatigue anaemia muscle twitching weakens which with no real exclamations to why this happens.

So in this appointment o came over very hot 🥵 flushed cheeks

my ankles and feet feel like they going to snap and so did my wrists like myand I feel like I can’t swallow properly like there is a lump in my throat the ent then proceeded to tell me that these antibodies are normal even though they raise can be found in many many people and they would not look into it any further and discharge me in fact he was very dismissive I understand I wouldn’t get medication because of my other levels are normal but I wanted an answer in other respects so they know there is an autoimmune going on with me and I’m wondering whether it’s slowly attacking my thyroid which I think would be a reasonable explanation given the fact it’s attacked my brain joints ect

The reason I went to see an ENT specialist is because there was concern over some inflamed lymph nodes in my neck which have consequently gone down and apparently now they only believe it to be inflammation which is good that it’s nothing cancerous so sinister but obviously they go up and down a lot because I don’t feel very well this is what being overlooked so I wondered if any of you have any advice for me anything I can do I just generally don’t feel very well and I feel like I have the beginning of thyroid so nothing like other people have got but obviously with everything else I just feel pretty awful.

Which antibodies are we talking about here? Every autoimmune disease has its own antibodies, and they are very specific in what they do. If you're talking about Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies - TPOab - they do not attack joints or brains are anything. They are specifically to do with the thyroid.

However, if you have high TPOab, that means you have Hashi's. Hashi's is an autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks the thyroid and slowly destroys it, making you hypo. So, any symptoms you have, like aching joints and brain fog, are caused by low thyroid hormones, not the antibodies attacking things.

Very few endos understand antibodies, so I'm not surprised an ENT doesn't. It's not his area of expertise. Have you seen an endo? What, exactly are your thyroid hormone levels? Can you post them here, with ranges, and let us have a look?

My tsh is 2.65 range 0.27 > 4.2

T4 17.8 range 12 <22

T3 5.44 range 3.1< 5.44

TA Level 11.2 range >115

Tpo level is 39.7 range >34

Thanks I understand they do not attack the brain I’m just trying to work out if there is more then one thing going on at once pa I have b12 deficiency and iron I understand this can damage the brain if

Well, people who have one autoimmune disease are very likely to develop another. By, the sound of it, you have two: Hashi's and PA. You could have others, but the specific antibodies would have to be tested for. You can't really work it out, otherwise.

Your TSH is too high and your FT3 is on the low-side. FT4 just above mid-range - most hypos need it higher. Looks like you need an increase in dose.

Ah, OK, I see. Your doctors don't recognise the need for treatment. They rarely do. But, do keep testing, because at some point, those Free levels are going to drop and your TSH is going to go over-range. And, then, you tell that that the guidelines say that with over-range TSH, and high antibodies, you should be put on thyroid hormone replacement - both to ease your symptoms and support your thyroid during immune system attacks.
