The tests that you have had are not enough to dismiss thyroid disease. You said in your previous post that your GP was investigating overactive thyroid and I replied that to help diagnosis you'd need:
TSH
FT4
FT3
Thyroid antibodies
This still applies.
For overactive thyroid the antibody tests are:
Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulin - TSI
TSH receptor antibodies - TRAb
The following antibody tests are for underactive thyroid caused by autoimmune disease - Hashimoto's - which is the most common cause of Hypothyroidism:
Thyroid Peroxidase - TPO
Thyroglobulin - Tg
Hashimoto's can start with a "hyper" episode then move on to "hypo", and can fluctuate between the two.
Oh thank you. I did have a feeling he would have done the bare minimum 😩 I have read in here that people have paid privately for these tests so I think I may do the same. Xx
Yes, Medichecks and Blue Horizon can do the full thyroid panel (plus vitamins if you also want those) but only Medichecks do the TRAb test which is a separate test and has to be a venous blood draw:
Important to also test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
These can be low due to thyroid or be causing similar symptoms in their own right
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven will test Thyroid and vitamins
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water . This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Endometriosis may make autoimmune diseases more likely
Thanks for all your help. I’m going to order those tests. My mum is a nurse and she has agreed that the tests I’ve had aren’t giving a very good picture. Thanks for your guidance. Hopefully I’ll get sorted soon 😩 xx
