can anyone recommend a good easy absorbed folate supplement I already take a b12 complex but need added folate as my MCH blood test is high meaning low b12 or folate bit my b12 was ok just need a good folate. I have folic acid but apparently it's not the right one or has to be actual folate. I want to get all levels sort of ok before I tackle the ongoing thyroid issues thanks

You might be better taking a good quality daily vitamin B complex that has folate in (not folic acid)

B vitamins best taken in the morning after breakfast

Igennus Super B complex are nice small tablets. Often only need one tablet per day, not two. Certainly only start with one tablet per day after breakfast. Retesting levels in 6-8 weeks

Or Thorne Basic B or jarrow B-right are other options that contain folate, but both are large capsules

If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results

I spoke to you before and bought the Jarrow B right but I had to stop as I had severe itching for 2 full days felt awful so I stopped. I've stayed with my current Vit B complex it's raised my b12 but I need a separate folate to go with it as it's a lower amount in the b tablet..

Elevated MCH may be caused by low B12 or folate, but not necessarily. It can also be caused by hyperthyroidism, regular alcohol consumption, ingesting too much exogenous oestrogen, complications from infection, liver disease for instance. It's always worth testing before supplementing.

thank you..the blood tests keep showing high mch and very low folate over 3 years so it's folate that is the cause I've been told ( practice nurse). I don't drink I'm menopausal so low oestrogen and no infection can stay for 3 years ...im showing secondary hypothyroidism as per my bloods but I want to get my ferritin and folate raised ..ferritin I'm sorting but I wanted to go off recommendation for a good folate ( not folic acid)
