Hi
Would anyone be able to interpret my Iron results. Medichecks says they’re all within range but wondering should they be at optimum level?
Thanks in advance

Optimal iron results according to web.archive.org/web/2018083... are:
Serum iron: 55 to 70% of the range, higher end for men - yours is 46% so a little low
Saturation: optimal is 35 to 45%, higher end for men - yours is 30.46% so a little low
TIBC: Low in range indicates lack of capacity for additional iron, High in range indicates body's need for supplemental iron - yours is 65% through range
Ferritin: It's said that for thyroid hormone to work properly (that's our own as well as replacement hormone) ferritin needs to be at least 70, preferably half way through range.
Thankyou very much for your help. Would you know what supplements are best to give the low ones a boost? Thanks
No sorry, iron is complicated and I don't recommend iron tablets because of that very fact.
If you look at the optimal results mentioned, high TIBC indicates need for iron supplementation. I woudn't call yours high, I'd describe it as a little over mid-range. Your serum iron and saturation are a little low. Your ferritin is a little below the recommended level for thyroid hormone to work. All that together doesn't suggest to me that you need iron tablets - but I am no expert nor am I medically qualified.
If those were my results I'd just be looking at eating liver (maximum 200g per week due to it's high Vit A content, also liver pate, black pudding) and iron rich foods apjcn.nhri.org.tw/server/in...
That would possibly raise ferritin and maybe serum iron and the rest may fall into place.
