Hi, I am hoping to purchase a book - I am underactive thyroid and have had RAI. I take 175mg levo a day and have Graves disease. I am currently on selenium and Vit C. Just want to get a book on foods that I should be eating and general advice on the above. Any advice would be welcome please.
Thank you

There are three books that have helped me understand my own situation.
I am with Graves Disease diagnosed 2003, RAI 2005 and now have to manage Graves Disease, thyroid eye disease and hypothyroidism, and became very unwell some 8 years after the RAI treatment.
Graves Disease A Practical Guide by Elaine Moore. This lady has the disease and went through RAI in the late 1990's as she found no help or understanding within the medical profession, so wrote this book to help others in the same situation. She has since dedicated her life to researching all things Graves for all Graves sufferers and runs a very well researched and respected website with an open forum much like this amazing website.
Tired Thyroid by Barbara S Lougheed. This lady also has the disease and was treated with RAI, and her book, amongst others things, explains the need to break the rules regarding the TSH blood tests for those with this disease. I believe she also runs a blog under the same title, Tired Thyroid.
Last but by no means least is Your Thyroid and How To Keep It Healthy by Barry Durrant - Peatfield. This doctor has hypothyroidism and his book is an easy read explaining all things thyroid and the implications when things go wrong. We may now not have this amazing little gland, but we do need to know what it does so we can compensate accordingly.
Having been refused a trial of T3 on the NHS early last year, I went on to trial both T3 in a combination with T4 and Natural Desiccated Thyroid. They both worked for me. I am currently self medicating with NDT and am much improved and getting my life back.
