Okay, I have a question. I have been taking nature throid for over a year now. Today my doctor did some testing and this is where I am
FT3 5.6 high
FT4 1.1 normal
Tsh ultra senstive 0.03
My last test results were normal as far as Tsh and FT3 & FT4. I used to have a tsh of 5.23 so it has come down. I look at this and think is it over active. But I have gained a couple lbs , and have not been feeling my best. Plus Im 190 so I should be shrinking not gaining. LOL Anyway. I have not spoke to my doctor just wanted some insight from everyone.

In order for folks to comment accurately, rather than writing 'normal' and 'high', you need to include the actual reference ranges for each test result as they differ between labs. For instance, your FT3 result might be within or outside of the upper parameter of the reference interval, depending on that used by your lab, so high might be high in range, or above range, and the implications of each will differ. Likewise normal simply means anywhere within the reference interval but not whether it is optimal for you. Also, I think you'll find that "ultrasensitive" doesn't relate to you but refers to the type of assay method used, so isn't relevant to your result. You can't be overactive if your thyroid is failing, but you can be over-medicated, but without the reference ranges it's not possible to say.
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also important to regularly retest vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised
What vitamin supplements do you currently take?
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
If/when on NDT make sure to take last dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test
The test was done about noon. Usually I go early in the morning but doctor wanted it while i was there. I took my nature throid at 6am . so i was 6 hours after that. I take a grain and half of nature throid. He is testing Vitamin D. usually its around 30-31 . So i should get results soon. Cholesterol was down from 215 to 192 and glucose was down from 113 to 95.
So you need to get FULL Thyroid and vitamin testing with correct time lapse of 8-12 hours between last dose NDT and blood test
