Well, the over-range thyroid stimulating antibodies do confirm Grave's. So, that was what you needed to know.
Ok thank you the doctor told me this morning olny a small amount of people overactive thyroid turn out to me graves there the smallest on chance but when i have looked it up say one on the main reasons for overactive thyroid
Peppypo, to explain a few other numbers, a standard thyroid panel is TSH, freeT4 and freeT3. You have got all those on your printout.
TSH means thyroid stimulating hormone. This is a chemical messenger your body makes to stimulate the thyroid to make more hormone. In a healthy person this would be between about 0.8-2. If we have too much hormone it goes low, because the body doesn't want anymore made. If we have too little hormone it will be high.
FreeT4 and freeT3 show how much thyroid hormone we have available in the blood. The ranges for these are a normal curve. Most healthy people will have numbers close to the middle of the range, and the farther out we are the more likely it is there is a thyroid problem. You can see that both of yours are far above the top of the range, so your thyroid is still making far too much hormone.
