I had half my thyroid removed in Dec last year and the remaining half in June as I was still overactive due to Graves.
Since June I’ve been on 75mcg of thyroxine and then about. Month ago put up 100 mcg.
For the last three weeks or so I have just felt like crap. At first I thought it was a cold but it can’t be now. I have a permenant horrendous headache from the time I wake up. It’s all the front of my face and the base of my skull. I ache everywhere like I’ve run a marathon and am shattered all the time. I just feel like I’m walking around in a blur and have lost my oomph if you know what I mean!!! I just don’t want to be this person. I can’t be like this all the time. I’m going to go mad!!!

Hi. Thank you for replying. My last bloods at the end of July were
Free T4 10. Range 7.70-15.10
TSH 0.14 range 0.34-5.60
T3 not done
The brand I have been on sine I started taking the tablets is Teva. In the batch I have now I also have some North star but I’ve only taken one of those today.
I asked to be increased due the tiredness And weight gain but the achy limbs and headaches come on since the increase
Was your dose increased to 75mcg after these results?
Retesting should be done 6-8 weeks after any dose change so if not already booked then you should see about organising that.
So you were on Teva brand only from the outset? These are lactose free tablets, was this brand prescribed due to you being lactose intolerant?
When your dose was increased from 75mcg to 100mcg did you intially just take more Teva and didn't mix brands?
With the Northstar, is this 100mcg or are you taking a mixture of Teva and Northstar?
Northstar is not lactose free, have you had any new symptoms since adding the Northstar?
Sorry for all the questions. Teva is a brand that many people react to, some having serious side effects. But if you've had Teva from the start that doesn't seem to apply to you.
If you've only been having Northstar for 1 day but having all these symptoms for the last 3 weeks or so, do you think the increase in dose caused them?
As you've had these symptoms for a few weeks now, have you discussed them with your GP?
If I were you, when having your repeat thyroid test, I'd ask for full testing:
TSH
FT4
FT3
and I'd also ask for
Vit D
B12
Folate
Ferritin
and any other test your GP deems necessary to get to the bottom of your symptoms.
Hi. I was increase to 100 mcg after these results but only because I called and asked. Otherwise I’d just been sent a text saying they were fine!
I’m due for some more bloods in about 2 weeks.
I’ve been Teva from the outset just because that’s what I’ve been given. Taking a combination of 25 and 50 to use up what I had from taking 75 and making it up to 100. I was given a pack of the North Star 50 mcg last time so that’s why I’m taking these for the last few days.
I havn’t discused with Gp yet as I thought I ha a cold to start with but it’s dawned on me that it’s probably thyroid related. I’m not used to recognising symptoms yet!!
At the moment the blood form he has given me is just for T4 and TSH again so I will ask for more. X
Know how you feel. My story is similar. Feel crap four years later and no idea how I get through each day. Loads of great advice on here though from slow dragon, seaside susie, grey goose etc. I feel love I’ve got a plan of action and some hope now. Wishing you the very best of health. Good luck
