Recently got some more blood test done, i am on b12 injections why it is showing high b12, i was deficient in iron so i will cut back on those, and my folate is a bit too high so will also cut back on it. But my antibodies are near 34, i have the symptoms of hashimotos shall i try a gluten free diet?

Should i be concerned about my free t4 being near the top end?

Thank you so much!

Can I ask why you think your Folate is too high? According to these results, it’s over 45, but within range, I would say you could do with bringing it up a little more, and your ferritin too, maybe? I’m not medically trained of course, and I’m sure that someone with more experience will correct me if I’m wrong.

Your antibodies are absolutely fine and don’t, from what I’ve learnt on here, suggest Hashimotos.

Can I ask what the reason is for your B12 injections, were your levels low before you started them? The reason your levels are so high now are because you are supplementing with injections, if you do cut back or stop doing them, keep an eye on your levels and symptoms as they may return, and some may return quite quickly.

A GF diet could very well benefit you, especially if you have absorption issues.

I do hope someone with more experience and knowledge will be along to help you out some more soon xx

Nothing wrong with your ferritin level, I've seen it said that 100-130 is a good level for females. If you are supplementing daily, maybe just cut down a bit so you're getting more of a maintenance dose.

Your folate result doesn't give an exact level but apparently a high folate level is fine when B12 is high. Again, you could cut back to a maintenance dose. Instead of daily, maybe alternate days?? But are you taking methylfolate or a B Complex? It's B Complex you need when supplementing with B12 as it balances all the B vitamins. Always leave off a B Complex or any supplement containing Biotin (B7) for 7 days before blood tests as it can give false results if Biotin is used in the testing procedure (which Medichecks have confirmed they do use and as Blue Horizon does - or used to - use the same labs then it's safe to assume their testing equipment uses Biotin too).

Your antibodies are nearer the top end of the range so it might be worth trying a gluten free diet for a few months and see if it helps, there's no guarantee but some members find it does help, some find it doesn't.

Should i be concerned about my free t4 being near the top end?

Your FT4 is 63% through it's range, considering that the aim of a treated hypo patient generally is for TSH to be 1 or below or wherever it needs to be for FT4 and FT3 to be in the upper part of their reference ranges, if that is where you feel well, then there is no reason to be concerned.

SeasideSusie - thank you for that, and thank you so much for your immense knowledge, I can only wonder at the amount of research you have and probably still do, to be able to be so good at what you do on here! I know to me and many others, the knowledge and experiences of you, greygoose , SlowDragon , and helvella to name a few, are absolutely invaluable.
