Weak

I know I’m under medicated but I’m waiting on my next blood draw before making any adjustments. I really think I’m improving with the T4 and t3 combination. Problem is that the weakness comes and goes and seems worse than when I was weak all the time. Is this typical? Thank you

Hi Coach,

The answer is yes. You will have highs and lows as your body adjusts. Wishing you all the best.

It could be that the poor times are more noticeable and frustrating because you are having periods of some relief, whereas when it was constant there was no contrast to show the 'valleys' for what they are. Hopefully things will level out as your body adjusts to a good dose.

Coachgeorge, I too have spells of weakness that seems worse than before, though if I think realistically I wasn't doing as much before. I have wondered if there is something I do/eat/drink that interferes with the meds and causes this. If you work out anything, I'd be grateful if you would let me know.

I will let you know. So far, folks seem to think it will level out once my medication is adjusted. Have you had a change in meds or do you think you need one?

Hello again, I have been on a steadily increasing dose of T3, stabilized in January and I don't think I need a change. Perhaps folks are right about it being the Hashimoto's. (I do have Hashis but have had for so long apparently my thyroid produces virtually nothing now, so I think this means I am free from the ups and downs). Sorry, this seems an awful lot about me when I intended to offer something of help to you.

There is a lot of advice re food, other meds etc so look at the Thyroid U.K. Site and take the advice. It can be a lot to take in the suggestions slowly-I used to read the info every night until I was familiar with it. Anything you don't understand then shout out!

Have antibodies been tested? If you have Hashimoto's, your body's thyroid hormone production will have ups and downs.

Thank you. I do have Hashimoto’s. I just never had any problems that medication didn’t control until recently

Because hormone levels go up and down, you might have to adjust medication accordingly. Cutting back when hyper symptoms pop up, and temporarily increasing when hypo symptoms increase.

I do not know but I am in the same place. I went to a Primary Care Doctor yesterday TIRED of wasting time in an endo. In a year, I have gained 19 pounds and have not felt well around the way. My heart rate was low . I hope you find an answer. I shall go back next week.

I’m sorry. I’m going to take vocalEK’s suggestion and read more about nutrition. Best

Yes for me that is typical, getting the right balance takes alot of mindfulness. If I take T3 twice a day its too much, sometimes even once everyday is too much, my energy is good but showing signs of graves. For me once every other day seems right, enough energy to do all my housework and a bit left for me too. I take 125mcg T4 everyday and 5mcg T3 every other day.

I may experiment by dropping the 25mcg T4 for the other 5mcg T3 see if graves eye stays away.

I hear there is less side effects with T3 and lower doses of T4.
