I think the contents of the letter are exactly as we would expect from an endo. You are in range, that's all they care about. Of course, your FT4 is too low in range, but that doesn't matter to them, nor does how you feel. Numbers are king, blow the patient's symptoms.
What was the reason for stopping your T3?
What is it you want advice and guidance on?
I have been having ongoing appointments with the endo.
I was prescribed 75 mcg of Levo, up from the initial 50 mcg in November 2017.
I have been taking self sourced T3 starting with 5 up to 12.5 mcg
I was told that I didn’t have a conversion problem and there was no need for T3, if there was he would willingly supply.
To do this I would have to abstain for 8 weeks !!
I went back told him how dreadful I felt. Response was I didn’t give it time !!
With the previous response I have had to posts from the kind members of TUK. I now know this isn’t correct
Especially that comment from the endo I had that he would agree to upping my Levo due to my size !!
Sitting in a pair of size 12 jeans @ the moment ( ok they do have stretch ) to 100 mcg if I stayed off the T3.
The advice I need is for my appointment on Wednesday is
Due I just except what is being said ?
( I won’t I know I feel better on my small amount of T3 )
Or carry on self sourcing?
Or put a justification to why I should have the T3 due to the trials that he has put me through?
I am learning from the knowledge suppled from this wonderful forum
I can say how I feel but Seaside Suzie comments are what I need to feel confident with my ranges.
For me this letter shows this is the end of the road with my endo.
Thanks 🙏
I'm not the best person to comment really. My encounter with an endo was horrendous, he made me very ill because he only cared about getting TSH back into range (it was suppressed), he didn't give a fig about how low my FT4 fell or that my FT3 was at the very bottom of the range 2.8 (2.8-7.1) or that I felt extremely ill and needed to be looked after. So you can imagine what my opinion of endos is.
I discovered I had to help myself because no-one else would so I self source T3, don't tell my GP, keep an eye on things myself and would never see an endo again.
Your letter doesn't inspire confidence in that endo.
For your own information would suggest you do a full private test after 6 weeks back on your Levothyroxine and Liothyronine
Previous posts showed very low B12 and low folate
Have you retested these recently?
What supplements do you currently take?
Are you on strictly gluten free diet?
