That's interesting, when I asked how many nodules I had the person doing the ultrasound told me there were several, I wonder if that would help me.

What's been the follow up for your multi nodular goitre?

I haven't had a follow up they discharged me. I have had 2 ultrasounds in the last 12 years my last one was 2 years ago. My Doctor said if it gets any bigger come back and we will have another look, which probably means remove it which I don't want.

Has it grown?

Any pain from it?

It isn't growing but it swells up when I am feeling unwell and I sometimes I choke on my food. My doctor knows this and has said I am imagining that I am choking because I know I have a goitre which isn't that big in his opinion. Doctors try to tell you it is all in your mind and I have lost confidence in them. I only see a Doctor if I am really ill and haven't taken antibiotics for over 10 years.

Well, he should be blest with thyroid nodules then! What an ass!!

I get what u mean when u say it swells up when u feel unwell.

We are the same re confidence in doctors. Frankly, I get so super stressed before any appointment, that I'm boning up for them like I'm going for an exam?! It's just insane. Like you, I much rather skip any visit till I'm really ill. But that, I admit, can be pretty stupid.

I wonder to what degree your nodules/goitre, are contributing to your symptoms?

Luckily I do know how the NHS works as I was married to a Hospital Manager. I also don't feel intimidated by Doctors because I have worked with them in the past when I worked in hospitals myself. I feel sorry for the women who are having to accept what the so called "experts" tell them about their thyroid. Having said that I still haven't been taken seriously about my illness even though the evidence is there in my blood results and my physical symptoms.
