Hi all. Hoping for some input on my latest test results. Bloods were taken first thing in the morning without any meds. I am currently taking erfa thyroid 2 grains. 1 morning and 1 evening.

TSH 4.34 Range 0.04 - 4.5

Free T4 11. Range 8.00 - 21.00

Free T3 6. Range 2.5 - 6.5

Your TSH is too high. The aim is 1 or lower.

As you are taking a thyroid hormone replacement which contains all of the hormones a healthy gland would produce, the emphasis should be upon 'how you feel' on a dose rather than the results of a blood test. This is due to the blood tests which were introduced along with levothyroxine (T4) alone. If we take any NDT or add T3 to T4, the resuts don't correlate.

The aim of replacing our thyroid hormones is relief of all the clinical symptoms. I shall give you a link which may be helpful and is by a deceased Adviser to Thyroiduk. He only ever took one blood test, for the initial diagnosis and thereafter all the emphasis was on relief of symptoms. Read 'Safely getting well'.
