Hypothyroidism and treating Candida

Dear friends,

Has anyone had any success obtaining diflucan/flucanazole from either their GP and/or Endo for systemic Candida or related symptoms that may have proven to be a root cause or byproduct of their thyroid issues? I’m referring to the daily mid term prescription of the drug (2-6 weeks), not the one a day tablet for thrush.

If you have had any success, could you please post your story as to whether or not it helped alleviate any thyroid issues, or general autoimmune symptoms so many of us have on here.

Please also share how you convinced your GP that your issues were linked to Candida, as as far as I am aware I don’t know of a test that the NHS run for this.

HC

Have you got systemic Candida? If you suspect gut Candida get gp to send stool sample. If you suspect blood then it will show in blood cultures. Oral Candida - mouth swab but gp must put ? Candida in clinical details.

Thanks Hay. My doctor didn’t offer to send a stool sample. Is it standard procedure?

No but it can be done. We did it routinely in S. Africa but just on immunosuppressed in uk if that’s where you are. X
