I’ve finally been given a trial of T4 levothyroxine by Endo. Previously I’ve self treated with NDT and then T3 only.
He’s given me 25mg to start for 6 weeks then bloods. Increasing to 50 then back to see him after another six weeks to see how I am. Just a question on best time to take it. Was thinking bedtime as stomach will be empty then?
Well, I take mine at bed-time, and always have. But it is important to remember that we are all different and what works for one might not work for another.
And the context - of you having been on desiccated thyroid and T3 - might make the choice more difficult.
How did you feel taking ndt/t3?? It will be interesting to see how you feel by comparison. Many people are not getting on with the Teva brand so watch out for those.
Evenings make sense then you do t ha e to wait for your tea/coffee and breakfast in the mornings.
Check out Dr Izabella Wentz website and her brilliant books, some people have managed to get well without thyroid medication.
If you decide on a bedtime dose, remember if having a blood test next a.m. miss bedtime dose and take after blood test and then at night as usual.
One can even take a weekly dose of levothyroxine if they wish.
