Do help me
If you are in the UK you can ring 111 and get the advice you need. Hope all is ok.
Ring 111 and get advise. Is she feeling suicidal? What has happened to make her do this 🙁
I'm from India it's 3am night she'll take her hospital
As it's not uncommon for non-compliant patients to attend their surgery once a week to take their week's worth of levothyroxine in one dose, I don't think there will be too much of a problem. Just don't take any more thyroid tablets until 10 days have passed. If you are worried, ring your emergency help line.
Thanks for reply tablet is thyronorm usually she will daily one tab but today it happen no issues will happen right
It is important to know what "thyroid tablets" you mean. I assume you mean levothyroxine?
Also, I assume that she usually takes one a day?
Although that is quite a lot to take, it is not unknown for people to take their full dose for a week in one lot. (I think it is a bad idea but it does happen.)
The most dangerous time is probably not tonight, but tomorrow and the next two days.
Levothyroxine (also called T4) has to be converted to T3 before it has much effect. Usually the peak of T3 occurs around 48 hours after taking T4.
I am not an expert but there are things you can check. Like heart rate which will rise.
I wouldn't worry too much as some people may take a one week's dose of levothyroxine at a time.
I have to agree with Seasidesusie.
A few years ago I was taking 300 mcg of thyroxine and 6 x 1 mcg of prednisone per day. For a whole week I accidentally reversed the meds. So I took 600 mcg each day of thyroxine.I had no side effects other than my test results were slightly higher than normal.
Obviously it depends on how much you normally take but you can monitor heart rate and temps.
Hopefully she’ll be ok.
Unsure though why she did it so I can’t help further.
Best wishes.
Just curious and meant as a general question, why would an individual take all their tablets together as I have heard of many who do that. Is there a benefit?
It's usually for patients who are non-compliant (for whatever reason) and would be under medical supervision, done at the doctor's surgery. It's not a general thing. The only benefit would be that at least the doctor knows the patient has had their Levo.
Thanks for your response.
My understanding is that some people simply hate taking tablets and/or are very disorganised. They find it easier to take tablets once a week.
I don't think there is a benefit, unless the alternative is that the patient ends up massively under-medicated if they try to take their pills every day, but fail.
Thanks for your response.
