These results are full blood count

SeasideSusie or humanbean are good on iron test results. They may pop along and comment

Can you add your Thyroid results and ranges if you have them

Low vitamins are often due to thyroid being under treated/poor conversion/Hashimoto's

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also extremely important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised

All thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. Do not take Levothyroxine dose in the 24 hours prior to test,

delay and take immediately after blood draw. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Is this how you do your tests?

Ask GP to test thyroid antibodies and vitamin D too

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).

About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's.

Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's. Food intolerances are very common too, especially gluten. So it's important to get TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once .

Thanks for your reply! Yes I usually always have my thyroid bloods taken first thing in the morning and always leave 24 hours free of levothroxine/T3 before.

This blood test I had done in the afternoon as I was hoping my TSH would be slightly higher because for the last few years my TSH has been suppressed which I’ve felt quite good at! But recently my GP has wanted me to reduce my levothroxine because she thinks I’m over medicated.

I also had a hysterectomy in January 18 because of heavy irratic periods and fibroids. How does low thyroid cause anemia? Previously told due to periods, just so I’m armed with info as it will probably be put down to me being vegetarian but I’m a healthy veggie who eats lots of spinach etc!

Also take Vit D3, B12 etc to try and keep my levels up.

B12 and Folate are both absent from that list. Maybe your GP wants to complete the picture.

You have low MCV and low MCH and that can suggest iron deficiency anaemia. It really needs Ferritin and an iron panel done as well.

If you had B12 or Folate anaemia this could be suggested by a high MCV.

Thank you for your reply seasidesusie, so my B12 wouldn’t be low in that case! I think I’ll ask for full iron bloods as previously very anaemic.

I agree with SeasideSusie that he is planning ahead just in case. You have had a problem hence the hysterectomy so you are in a recovery period. I expect he is thinking things need testing again but wants to add the other things in as an extra precaution to check things are still heading in the right direction.
