HI having hypothyroidism since 2003. trill 2 weeks back I was taking 100 micro gm of levothyroxine but as TSH level came 20 teh doc put me on 150. After taking it for 2 weeks still no respite from lethargy, feeling totally drained. Now even my ankles pain and when i get up in more there is pain in every bone of the body. The medicine actually seemed to work for initial one week but now it looks back to square one and in a much worse condition.

oh...but I have been using the same make since 2003.

Are you in the UK ? Have you ever been referred to an Endocrinologist? Have you ever had an Ultrasound scan of your Thyroid?

Have you ever had any tests to check your Adrenal function? Ask your doctor?

Do you have any other blood tests results you could share? The blood tests you really need (and Endocrinologist should do) are FreeT3, FreeT4, TT4 also some Antibodies - TPO and TgAb.

You could ask your doctor for blood tests to check some levels of nutrients : Vitamin D, Calcium, B12, Folate and Ferritin. Ask for Kidney check too. Maybe Full Blood Count also?

Or you could just go back to your doctor and explain how unwell you have become & ask for Endocrinologist referal.

Are you taking any other medication that might be interfering with your Levothyroxine? Have you started anything new in last year or are you taking any supplements?

It may take a while for your new dose to have effect but I would still keep going back to doctor.

You could phone the Endocrinologist's secretary and ask for a call back. Then explain how you are feeling now, just like you posted.

yup

You should have been given a 25 mcg increase not 50 mcg. it's too much of a shock for your body. Wait a few weeks to see how you feel once your body had gotten used to the new dosage.

Went again to endo today as my TSH level reduced to .105 from around 20 six weeks back when he has increased my dosage to 150. I really don't know what they are up to
