Been on 3 x 5mcg liothyronine for about six weeks and was feeling so much better. Not had Blood tests yet but now not so good. Aching wrists etc and feeling bit foggy and losing energy again. Also very dry eyes and sometimes blurred vision. Had this in past but not since on T3.
Any ideas, please? Please

As your T3 is prescribed, and you also take Levo, personally I would retest as it appears your last test was October and only TSH was tested (according to yesterday's post). Your doctor should put on the blood form that you are taking T3 therefore FT3 must be done. Otherwise do a private test with one of our recommened labs. Thyroid Monitoring (TSH/FT4/FT3) is on offer with Medichecks today, £10 off, so today it's £29.
It would also be helpful to have current levels of Vit D, B12, folate and ferritin.
Thanks, SSusie and SlowD for replies. Ordered test today from Medichecks for all you suggest. Will follow your directions re: taking blood.
I take 100 Levo with 5mcg t3 at 7.30am. Breakfast at 9.15. Then another 5 late morning, around noon, and lunch at 2pm. In evening, either about 7.30 or around 11pm.
Interested to hear views about taking t3 sublingual. Pro and why, anti and why, please! Luv K
My understanding is that the molecules of T3 are too big to be absorbed sublingually. Others will say it is possible to take it sublingually. I've always swallowed it with water so can't say if it makes a difference or not. Maybe I might try it one day.
There was a previous discussion about this which you may find interesting.
It's common to initially feel better, then feel worse. It should slowly improve.
What time to do take your 3 doses?
You need bloods retested at 8 weeks.
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also extremely important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw). This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
If/when also on T3, make sure to take last dose 8-12 hours prior to test
Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or all vitamins
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random
