Temp 93.6

Hi all

I'm hypo and usual temp for me is 37 but I just felt extremely hot took my temp and it was 93.6 googled it , like you do , and it said its mild hypothermia? I'm literally boiling hot it says if my temp goes below 93 to call emergency services as it can be fatal ?? I'm literally panicking here any advice or am I just being a numpty

Dear Jodiedebs55,

You are NOT being a numpty! If you don’t feel well, don’t even think about that.

If you really do feel so hot and you are hypo, I would go to see my doctor - does he/she have a walk in clinic today? Monitor temp for the next hour or so. If you don’t feel better, if it were me, I would get it checked out, if for nothing but your peace of mind. Do not apologize for going there either. Better safe than sorry. I hope you feel better soon.

I would also suggest trying a different thermometer - I had a very low temp once, and it turned out my thermometer was faulty.

Thanks , it's a new thermometer literally just opened it to take my temp I feel ok just felt extremely hot so imagined it would be high so was obviously shocked to see it so low, I'm always having hot flushes they went away for a while but back with a vengeance lately thankyou for the reply

Ok. The one other thing is just to be sure that the temperature ranges are for the appropriate part of the body. Underarm is different to tongue, so if you took an underarm measurement, try a tongue temperature to double check.

Thyroid medication may give rise to side effects of flushing. I found certain types of tea with high tannins gave me hot flushes. I took phytoestrogen as I thought it was the menopause which worked well.

Then after a year. it stopped working. I then gave up drinking tea and no hot flushes lo! If you join Thyroidunlocked UK you can find information on your thyroid test results to see if it is codniton which is creating the low temperature changes. My body temp is 36c but am slightly hypothyroid, so my temperature will be lower than normal.

Hi thankyou for your reply unfortunately no gp or drop in open I'm booked in for bloods tomorrow at 8.30am il mention it then I looked further into it apparently its normal for people with hypothyroidism to have low temp it just shocked me as Friday it was 37 I know this cos the paramedic took my temp as I think I may have atrial fibrillation, I don't feel ill just manic fatigue and a bit of a headache

Dear Jodiedebs55,

You are right about hypo and low temp and what a good idea Cooper27 had about checking the thermometer.

But I think listening to your body is important too, and sometimes women are hesitant to complain or ignore important symptoms.

BTW, I would follow up with your MD on Afib based on what the paramedic told you. My brother has it and it needs to be properly diagnosed and followed. I am sending you positive energy and good thoughts.

Thankyou yes I am so grateful for the advice from all of you , the afib scares me to death it's been 16 months since paramedics first told me it needed investigating but gp just said yes I read you had a funny turn so I stupidly assumed he hadn't agreed as he did absolutely nothing, my mum and 3 sisters all have afib they are all on blood thinners and have their INR checked regularly, I'm going to insist he refers me to get this checked out I'm very aware if I get a clot I can die it's all iv thought about since my major afib attack on Friday, my gp isn't the best to be honest

BTW, your hot flushes may also be caused by your afib. I hope you get some proper help and good luck with your doctor visit tomorrow - don’t wait to remind him/her about afib. Sometimes the docs do not connect the dots. Ask him about the flushes, temp, your thyroid, and if these are related to afib.

Wow thanks I really didn't know that as I finished my menopause I assumed they would just continue but they are back worse than before thanks for this
