I’m on levothyroxin 25mcg + cytomel 5 mcg for a month now , body ache and fatigue have been relieved BUT I’m starting to experience excessive thirst and no amount of water would quench my thirst as a result I go to the loo a lot + my skin is getting drier
I have to wait for two weeks to get tested for my thyroid , what could it be ?!
Is it possible for thyroid medication to cause thirst ?!

"The most common form of serious diabetes insipidus, central diabetes insipidus, results from damage to the pituitary gland, which disrupts the normal storage and release of ADH. Damage to the pituitary gland can be caused by different diseases as well as by head injuries, neurosurgery, or genetic disorders. To treat the ADH deficiency that results from any kind of damage to the hypothalamus or pituitary, a synthetic hormone called desmopressin can be taken by an injection, a nasal spray, or a pill. While taking desmopressin, a person should drink fluids only when thirsty and not at other times. The drug prevents water excretion, and water can build up now that the kidneys are making less urine and are less responsive to changes in body fluids."
Since TSH is another hormone put out by the pituitary gland, I wonder if this ADH pituitary hormone is the (tenuous at best) connection with thyroid, which makes your excessive thirst coincidental, rather than based on any thyroid cause.
I am also constantly thirsty and have had various tests and they all come back negative and doc has no answers either! Been hypo for 7 years on 150 levo
That's quite a low dose of both meds. I wonder if you need an increase to get rid of this symptom. It's amazing how much the wrong dose of thyroid meds can affect things we would never think of.
Or maybe it could be a reaction to a particular brand of the levo or T3.
being severly thirsty and dry skin was a huge hypothyorid symptom for me. im correctly dosed on ndt now and its gone. everyone told me diabetes as well. i was drinking 2- 3 gallons of water a day. in hypothyroid everything dries out.. hair scalp skin body eyes
