Hi Everyone, three months ago I posted by Blue Horizon results as follows

THYROID STIMULATING HORMONE * 0.04 mIU/L 0.27 - 4.2

FREE THYROXINE 19.4 pmol/l 12.0 - 22.0

FREE T3 4.1 pmol/L 3.1 - 6.8

I have just had another test and results are as follows:-

TSH 0.06

Free Thyroxine 19.5

Free T3 3.9

I am on 100 Levo.

Interestingly, I doubled my dose of Selenium from 100 to 200 in the hope that it would facilitate a little more conversion, but its gotten worse.

Happily I have just seen a letter from the hospital to my Doctor asking him to refer me to their T3 programme. Apparently Leicester has a small supply of T3 for those that don't do well on T4 alone, but what made me really happy is that they state that the guidelines have changed and it is more about the quality of life rather than bloods. I was getting increasingly anxious about starting a T3 battle as I was just too tired to fight, but my Doctor has done me proud, hats off to him. For all those Leicestertarians - get in quick!

Could anyone help me calculate the percentage conversion rate, what is the formula?

Thanks all I will keep you posted

I wouldn't attempt to calculate a T3 to T4 ratio or percentage as it's not meaningful or helpful. Conversion from T4 to T3 (deiodinase) varies as hormone levels change. Usually you would expect fT3 to be around average for patients on levothyroxine when their fT4 is around 18 or so. It's best just to see how you do when taking some liothyronine.

The small change in your fT3 is not significant.

Make sure to get vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 retested BEFORE starting on T3

Vitamins need to be optimal

Good news on T3 and keep us posted
