My doctor says my b12 result of 500 is fine but then I read somewhere else that 1000 is the optimum. Also she says she can’t prescribe K2 to go with the Vitamin D. Can someone please advise.

B12 result
Is that a serum B12 or an active B12? I think over 500 is fine. You can buy your own vit K2 - MK7 on Amazon.
This is what is said in the book "Could it be B12?" by Sally M. Pacholok:
"We believe that the 'normal' serum B12 threshold needs to be raised from 200 pg/ml to at least 450 pg/ml because deficiencies begin to appear in the cerebrospinal fluid below 550".
"For brain and nervous system health and prevention of disease in older adults, serum B12 levels should be maintained near or above 1000 pg/ml."
So 500 isn't bad but you might want to improve it.
Also, Serum B12 tests the total B12. Active B12 tests what is available to be taken up by the cells. You can have a good Serum B12 result but Active B12 can be low.
You wont get K2 on prescription as a cofactor for Vit D.
