Getting somewhere thanks to this forum & latest bloods!

Hello everyone,

Having been on this forum before, I posted the results below and some extremely helpful people on here advised me I had low T3 conversion. I had been on the 100mcg dose of Levothyroxine for about one year:

TSH - 0.01 (0.27 - 4.20) - LOW

T4 total - 121.0 (66 - 181)

Free T4 - 31.10 (12.0 - 22.0) - HIGH

Free T3 - 4.59 (3.1 - 6.8)

Thé lovely people on this forum pointed me in the direction of some research which showed a need for higher doses of Levothyroxine to be enable enough T3 conversion.

Due to this research & an approachable GP my dose was increased to 125mcg.

I’ve felt much better on the higher dose & can now share my latest 2 blood test results. The first was taken when I had been on 125mcg for at least 6 weeks:

Free T4 - 19.5 (0.30 - 4.20)

T3 - 4 (2.6 - 5.7)

I don’t have my TSH for this test but it will be similar I would think to the TSH in my next set of bloods below which were taken around 4 weeks later:

TSH - 0.02 (0.30 - 4.20)

Free T4 - 17.1 (9-19)

T3 wasn’t tested for this result but I can tell you I feel much better on 125mcg than 100mcg so massive thank you to everyone who has helped me on this forum!

I’d be interested to know what people think about my two latest blood test results?

My GP is happy to keep my on 125mcg.

Thanks everyone :-)

The important thing is that you are feeling well and that all of your bodily systems are functioning optimally. Test results are not indicative of health, but can be used to help identify when things have gone off the rails.

Besides feeling well, the only other consideration is bone metabolism. There is concern and considerable debate about how thyroid hormone replacement may or may not influence bone metabolism in a negative direction, resulting in a much greater risk of fracture as we age. Having a DXA bone scan as a baseline is a good idea. However, if you go to a different facility at a later date, there's some question about calibration and whether two different machines will produce significantly different readings on the same density of bone. Falling and fracturing something that leads to incapacitation and rapid decline of physical vitality is a major concern.
