Would someone be kind enough to comment in my results please? I’m on 2.5 grains Thyroid-s currently and prior to that took NP thyroid (I’m trying to beat the crippling cost ).
Despite the Ferritin and B12 results, I’m not on supplements so I’m wondering if I should be concerned they are high?
My vit D was done by the doc and came out as 56 nmol (no range given)- and the reason I was testing was because of painful joints.
Any advice/comments gratefully received!

Have you taken any B vitamins or multivitamins in last 6 months? This can explain high B12
Ferritin is often slightly high with Hashimoto's. GP might do full iron panel to check if iron is also too high. You can have high ferritin and low iron
Huge thanks for the wealth of info, Slowdragon. There is so much to learn about thyroid issues so thank heavens for the forum!
I have taken multi vits previously-but not for a good few months. Didn’t realise they stayed with you so long.... I had been supplementing with better you oral spray vit D and K but had stopped for a week before the test.
Your TSH, FT4 and FT3 are what one would expect to see when someone takes NDT. If you feel well on that dose there is no need to change it. Your FT3 is 76% through it's range, that's the only important result when on NDT.
You know you have Hashi's, so I imagine you are addressing that, maybe with a gluten free diet and supplementing with selenium, and you will know that antibodies fluctuate and with Hashi's you can swing from hypo to hyper and back to hypo.
Is your high ferritin historical? As your CRP is nice and low, then ferritin is probably not high due to inflammation. Maybe your GP should be looking into the reason why your ferritin is high. Same for B12.
As for your Vit D, 56nmol/L is low. The Vit D Council recommends a level of 125nmol/L [50ng/ml] and the Vit D Society recommends a level between 100-150nmol/L [40-60ng/ml]. They suggest that for your current level -which is 22.4ng/ml - then you should take 3,700iu D3 daily along with the important cofactors magnesium and Vit K2-MK7.
Nearest equivalent dose is 4,000iu and because you have Hashi's then for best absorption an oral spray is recommended - BetterYou. They do a D3 alone or a D3/K2 combined. Check how many sprays are needed to give the required dose.
D3 aids absorption of calcium from food and K2-MK7 directs the calcium to bones and teeth where it is needed and away from arteries and soft tissues where it can be deposited and cause problems such as hardening of the arteries, kidney stones, etc.
D3 and K2 are fat soluble so should be taken with the fattiest meal of the day, D3 four hours away from thyroid meds if taking tablets/capsules/softgels, no necessity if using an oral spray.
When you've reached the recommended level then you'll need a maintenance dose which may be 2000iu daily, maybe more or less, maybe less in summer than winter, it's trial and error so it's recommended to retest once or twice a year to keep within the recommended range. You can do this with a private fingerprick blood spot test with an NHS lab which offers this test to the general public:
I had painful finger joints when my ferritin was as high as yours. To alleviate this I adjusted my diet (removing high iron foods) and supplemented 3mg of Boron per day. My ferritin is now back in range and my joints are pain free.
