No, NDT does not work for everyone, despite what some people say. I stayed on NDT for far too long because my doctor insisted that it was THE only way to go. He would not believe how bad it made me feel, and that I was putting on weight due to the NDT, when I'd been losing it on synthetic T4+T3. I wish I'd had the guts to follow my instinct and stop it long before I did. I think I was on it for about five years, but don't really remember because my memory became shot to pieces. I remember very little of the years I was taking it.
But, are you sure you're on the right dose? Are your nutrients all optimal? Have you checked your adrenals out? You really do need all your ducks in a row to do well on NDT - far more so than on levo.
This was me too, stayed on it 6 years thinking it had to work there's nothing better because Ms j bowthorpe had me convinced. But have you ever seen a skinny 🐷🐖. Because I became way over weight on it. And multi dosing NDT never helped.
You might want to try to lower your NDT with combo of T4 . Or you may want to try synthetic T3 with a T4 combo . You will have to work with an Endo/Dr that understands dosing with NDT Or T3 with T4 .
In addition adding nutrients are very important too . Vitamin "D"/K2 , B-Complex , B12/folate, Iron if you test low , Vitamin "C" , magnesium , Celtic Sea Salt .
I had a dear friend in the US who started on NDT and ended up on levothyroxine because the NDT didn’t agree with her (levo did) and from what’s been said above it looks like it doesn’t suit everyone.
