Oh someone please help me, I am having the most excruciating pains in my lower chest. It eases a little when I stand up but feels like severe trapped wind when I sit or lye down. I actually thought I was taking a heart attack earlier. I’m under active on 100 Levo per day. Any thoughts? TIA.

Pains in chest
You should call 111 if you are in that much pain, never assume it isn't heart related.

"I am having the most excruciating pains in my lower chest."
In my GP's surgery waiting room there is a large TV screen which scrolls through certain medical advice/information. One of them says:
"Chest pain? Dial 999."
That is my advice to you right now.
Thanks Ladies, sorry In a panic I forgot to say that I have previously experienced this before about 3 weeks ago, and it was severe trapped wind and acid reflux as when I got that up it was a huge relief. I was just wondering if someone had experienced similar and what they used to ease it? Thanks again x
Try a magnesium supplement such as magnesium citrate, chew it and hold it under your tongue for a few minutes for rapid sub-lingual absorption then swallow.
Acid reflux and bloating are common hypothyroid symptoms
When were thyroid and vitamin levels last tested?
Suggest you put up new post with latest results and ranges
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also extremely important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw). This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Slow dragon- thank you so much for your reply. I’m due back at the endocrinologist in 2 weeks time and I will be asking for the results of my last bloods from Dec and I’m also having bloods done next week prior to this Endo appointment so I will be asking for them all to be printed out for me & will post them on here. That’s great advice about delaying the dose until after the bloods are done, my appointment is for 08.30am so that has worked out perfect. I honestly thought I was taking a heart attack the first time this happened to me a few weeks ago, the pain was absolutely excruciating 🙄 who knew trapped wind/ acid could feel so uncomfortable? Hopefully I can get this sorted out soon. Thanks for your time- much appreciated xx
If it’s trapped wind you can usually ease it by sipping a cup of boiled water. Let it cool a little first.
Alternatively, lay flat on the floor and draw your knees up towards your chest, linking your arms over your legs, pulling them in towards you. This squeezes the stomach and can sometimes move stubborn wind. In yoga it’s called the wind relieving posture! 😉
Please, if you are in any doubt, phone for an ambulance. Us ladies can often have undiagnosed heart problems.
I sometimes get trapped wind as you describe, and it can be very scary, especially in the middle of the night.
MariLiz- thanks so much for your reply. That is a great tip about lying on the floor with your knees up, I must remember that when I’m next in a state of panic. I really thought I was taking a heart attack the pain was so bad 😱😱 it is very scary indeed 😱 I’m definitely going to try out the wind relieving posture- thanks for sharing 👍👍
