I'm kinda new to hypo. I take 25mcg of levo. I'm a bit underweight. I have been experiencing very small annoying chest pains here and there. Not bad at all it just kinda freaks me out thing there's something wrong with my heart.. Is this normal? My tsh was 8.09

Tori, even minor chest pains shouldn't be ignored. My GP surgery's automated telephone system advises patients with chest pain to call an ambulance or go to A&E.

TSH 8.09 may have made your heart rate slow and the 25mcg may be slightly improving your metabolism making you aware of your heart beat. 25mcg is the initial dose prescribed to patients with heart failure as it is considered safe and unlikely to cause heart problems. Doesn't help much with hypo symptoms though.

I agree with Clutter - go to A&E or call an ambulance.

Assuming that you are given the all-clear by the hospital, perhaps you could check out the following link to see if something might be relevant to you :

Being under-medicated or over-medicated for hypothyroidism could give you chest pain. Other common problems - low stomach acid, heartburn/acid-reflux, being anaemic, gallstones.

Does it feel like a little muscle spasm. Even the sternum can be painful. When you have one of these pains, press on the spot. If it hurts, it is a muscle issue. You may feel little pinches almost anywhere. A good magnesium supplement like glycinate would be most helpful as you get your TSH down.

Ihad similar pains when started on 50mcg that happened when walking uphill, also aching down right arm. You need to have checked your veins/heart , but in my case the pains went straight after being put on a very low dose beta blocker which one year on i am still taking.Angiogram and echocardiogram were " unremarkable". So do not worry too much -as i did!

Hi,

You may be able to relate to my recent experience.

After my chest/low rib area pain and pressure I went to A&E because it became worse on the Saturday evening and worrying.

A&E did the usual checks, plus a FBC. Only differential was a sudden drop in white blood count, borderline below range. Dropped hugely from bloods three weeks before. Maybe infection?

Gp referred me to urgent Angina clinic who examined and heart ct scan. All fine. However heart Consultant discovered a severe pain when pressured, just below ribs. So likely radiating pain and onto further tests.

Agree with everyone 100%, get it fully checked.
