T3 supplier - please pm me

Hi, my private endo recommended that I go on a trial T3/T4 combo but my GP won’t prescribe me the T3 as apparently there’s not enough evidence that it works. Is there anyone out there who can PM me with details of a reputable source for t3/liothyronine please? Any help would gratefully received.

Thanks

Your private endo should provide a private prescription. T3 without prescription is very difficult

Email endo and request private prescription. (They shouldn't charge just to write prescription)

Due to cost of UK T3, only an NHS endocrinologist diagnosis of clinical need, gains you access to NHS prescription.

NHS GP can only prescribe T3 after a successful 3 month trial by NHS endocrinologist via NHS hospital

UK T3 20mcg is £204 for 28 tablets

German T3 20mcg is only 31 Euro for 100 tablets

Ask private endo for prescription to read

Liothyronine 20mcg x 100 tablets

Is this "private" endo also working on NHS?

If so, see if you can get transferred to his NHS list once you know T3 works for you

Brilliant info! Have been prescribed T3 by private endo, and was confused about getting it on NHS. Now I know, so thanks.

Before starting T3 have you had vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested recently?

These are often too low and need to be at good levels before starting T3 ideally

Presumably you have Hashimoto's? As quick look at previous posts ....you seem to be on gluten free diet

Hello, thank you so much for your help and information. Yes I’m gluten free. This did help initially when I was diagnosed with Hashies but my symptoms now are stopping me getting to work and I can’t take any more T4 that’ll do me any good. I’m now going to cut out Milk and sugar to see if this helps.

The endo did say he’d give me a private prescription but he just wanted to check first to see if I could get the GP to trial me on T3.

My Vit D is slightly low so I’m taking some to boost this up. My other results are normal.

Vitamin D needs to be at least around 80nmol, but many find around 100nmol is better

Ferritin at least half way in range

B12 and folate towards top of range

Improving vitamin D can apparently increase need for B vitamins

Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is good as avoids poor gut function.

It's trial and error what dose each person needs.

Once you Improve level, very likely you will need on going maintenance dose to keep it there.

Giving up all dairy really helped me. It’s much tougher than giving up gluten but well worth it. Hope you feel better soon.
