Hi
I am on liquid Levothyroxine. Each time I take my daily dose my legs start tingling within 20 minutes. Then I start to get a headache with blurred vision sometimes double vision. Every thing is racing and I need the toilet several times. Then my legs would buckle beneath me. I couldn’t hardly walk. I was taken to A&E recently. On arrival my blood pressure was very high they said although they didn’t give me my reading. I was sent home. Same thing happened the following day this time I checked my own blood pressure at home. Again it was high after taking Levothyroxine. Later in the day my blood pressure would level out to normal. This repeated several times over a week. I was checking why would my legs keep buckling. Then I came across a condition peripheral vascular disease.
I’ve had low B12, low ferritin, low folate, water retention in my legs for a year, brittle toenails and a soar/ulcer on the side of my knee. Then a light bulb moment. Oh my goodness I thought. Have I got peripheral vascular disease for all this time. This would explain my legs being so weak, my high blood pressure after taking Levothyroxine which gives your blood flow a boost. Also low vitamins and an ulcer. These symptoms have all been discussed with many Drs I have seen but still none have come up with this possibility.
I was in hospital last year 3 times. The first discharge was diagnosed as posteral hypertension. Which back then I thought was ridiculous. Now thinking about it it’s more than posteral it’s more like constant but only when I take my full dose. This week I have trialed taking my dose split. Half morning half afternoon. I have felt a great improvement! So it’s got to be something to do with blood flow. I haven’t been able to exercise much by means of walking as my legs have been so weak or my blood pressure being so high I’m waivering all of the place and terrible headaches and vision problems.
I just wanted to know if any helpful people on this brilliant site has ever come across this before.
I am seeing my GP a week on Friday to have a test to confirm my theory.
Thank you!
Pam
